Shaila Mulholland sworn in to represent Lawrence on Indianapolis City-County Council
According to WFYI, Shaila Mulholland was sworn in Oct. 5, 2026, as the District 10 member of the Indianapolis City-County Council after being chosen Oct. 2 by a Marion County Democratic Party precinct caucus to fill the vacancy left by Ali Brown.

According to WFYI, Shaila Mulholland was sworn in Oct. 5, 2026, as the Indianapolis City-County Council member for District 10 after being chosen Oct. 2 by a Marion County Democratic Party precinct caucus to fill the vacancy left by former Councilor Ali Brown. WFYI reported she would attend the council’s Oct. 5 meeting and the public hearing on Mayor Joe Hogsett’s proposed 2027 city-county budget.
WFYI reported Mulholland is interim executive director of Arts for Lawrence, was elected to the Lawrence Township School Board in 2024, and holds degrees from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in education from New York University. The station said she beat three other caucus candidates, plans to run for a full term in the 2027 municipal election, and intends to spend time “listening to residents, neighborhood leaders, business owners, educators and others.”
