EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Editorial Policy

BusinessIndy provides concise, source-linked business intelligence for Indianapolis and Central Indiana.

Sources

Published items must trace to an identified news organization, public agency, company announcement or other authoritative source. Links are provided so readers can review the original material.

The Green Rule

IBJ and IndyStar stories are leads for independent research. Before publishing our own brief, we require primary sources or reputable independent reporting that verify the same event and support every material claim. An accessible page or similar headline alone is not enough. Reposts and reporting that depend solely on the original publisher do not qualify.

Green means the evidence supports an original BusinessIndy brief. Yellow or Red stories stay on hold, including during failed-brief recovery. We do not recreate exclusive interviews, copy distinctive analysis, bypass paywalls or reuse another publisher’s photographs without permission. Images must independently meet our rights and relevance requirements.

Automation and review

Software assists with feed monitoring, duplicate detection, categorization and short impact summaries. Automated output may be reviewed, corrected, removed or replaced when it does not meet our standards.

Independence

Advertising and featured directory placements do not determine news coverage. Sponsored material will be labeled clearly.
