Joshua Stockton announced his campaign for Bloomington City Council District 6, aiming to succeed Sydney Zulich, who recently launched a mayoral bid. Stockton’s platform centers on housing affordability, infrastructure improvements and measures he says will strengthen the local economy. The council seat represents a district whose majority of constituents are IU students and that has historically seen low voter turnout.
Stockton is pursuing a master’s in public affairs at Indiana University with a concentration in local government management and previously worked as a water treatment operator and as an intern for the City of Bloomington Engineering Department. In a press release he said he supports conserving existing affordable housing and changing zoning rules to lower costs and speed construction. He told the B Square Bulletin he will seek the Democratic nomination but cannot formally file his declaration until Jan. 6, 2027.
