HSE board approves admin pay and role changes tied to about $15,000 projected savings ahead of Nov. 3 referendum
On Sept. 9 the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Board of Trustees approved a title change and a $15,000 pay increase for former CFO Tim Brown (vote 6-1), and hired a new executive director of human resources effective Sept. 21. Voters will consider a replacement operating referendum on Nov. 3.
The board voted 6-1 on Sept. 9 to make Tim Brown the district’s Assistant Superintendent for Finance and approve a $15,000 raise; Brown’s new annual salary is $164,471. Board member Latrica Schooley cast the lone dissent and urged postponing the raise until the board reviews 2027-28 financial projections. Superintendent Matt Kegley said Brown will assume oversight of human resources and operations after an effort to streamline administrative roles following the July resignation of Assistant Superintendent of Operations Bryan Rausch.
The board also approved hiring Tammy Harwood as executive director of human resources at an annual salary of $125,000, effective Sept. 21; she will replace Ryan Taylor, who is now chief operations director with no salary change. The article says the district expects overall savings of approximately $15,000 from the reorganization. Voters will consider a replacement operating referendum Nov. 3. The next board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at the HSE central office building, 3485 Cumberland Rd.
