Hancock County: U.S. 40 RCI construction moves to Phase 2 with lane and turn restrictions
Giant FM — Shelby County reports the Indiana Department of Transportation announced on 2026-10-01 that reduced-conflict intersection (RCI) work at U.S. 40 and County Road 600 E. is entering Phase 2. During Phase 2, no left turns will be allowed at the intersection; right turns will be allowed and U.S. 40 traffic is reduced to one lane each direction.

Giant FM — Shelby County reports the Indiana Department of Transportation announced on 2026-10-01 that RCI construction at the intersection of U.S. 40 and County Road 600 E. in Hancock County is moving into Phase 2. During this phase, no left turns will be allowed in any direction at the intersection; right turns will be allowed at each leg.
U.S. 40 eastbound and westbound remain reduced to one lane around the intersection while crews work in the median. Beginning on or after 2026-10-05, the south side of C.R. 600 E. will reopen at the intersection. The department said left turns from U.S. 40 onto C.R. 600 E. will be restored after construction, which is expected to be complete by Christmas.
