One Southern Indiana economic leader John Launius to join IEDC as senior VP, leaving 1si after regional investment gains

One Southern Indiana said on Sept. 1, 2026 that John Launius, its senior vice president and chief economic development officer, will leave the organization to join the Indiana Economic Development Corporation as Senior Vice President of Regional Economic Development. The release stated he led 1si’s economic development work since 2022, supporting Clark, Floyd and Scott counties, and is scheduled to begin at the IEDC on Sept. 8, 2026.

The 1si announcement credited Launius with helping attract substantial capital and jobs to the three-county region during his tenure, reporting more than $3.3 billion in new investment commitments and in excess of 5,200 new jobs. The release said his IEDC role will involve working with communities and regional economic-development organizations on business retention, expansion, attraction and lead generation, bringing regional relationships and practices to statewide efforts.
