MISO (Carmel release) advances 15 generation and storage projects totaling about 7.3 GW in fifth ERAS cycle
MISO announced its fifth Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS) cycle will evaluate 15 proposed projects totaling approximately 7.3 GW of new capacity across its North, Central and South regions, combining natural gas, solar, wind and battery storage expected to be in service by 2029. The ERAS program is capped at 68 projects and will sunset in 2027.
MISO said the fifth ERAS study cycle includes 15 proposed projects totaling roughly 7.3 gigawatts of capacity and spans its North, Central and South regions. The portfolio mixes natural gas, solar, wind and battery storage resources and is expected to be in service by 2029. MISO described ERAS as a tool to bring reliability-critical generation online faster while longer-term interconnection improvements are pursued.
Since the ERAS launch, MISO has studied 58 projects representing nearly 29 GW of proposed capacity. Of those, 38 projects (about 18 GW) have advanced to completed generator interconnection agreements and five projects (roughly 3 GW) are nearing completion. MISO noted the ERAS program has a 68-project cap and is scheduled to sunset in 2027.
