Westfield Washington Schools previews $216M 2027 budget; referendum would raise tax ceiling to 39¢
Westfield Washington Schools’ advertised 2027 budget is $216 million and projects a 2027 referendum rate of 33.81¢ per $100 assessed value. The district has a November ballot referendum to raise its referendum ceiling to 39¢; the school board will vote on the advertised budget Oct. 13, 2026.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Greg Hunt told trustees on Sept. 22, 2026, that the district’s advertised 2027 budget is $216 million and that the projected referendum rate for 2027 is 33.81 cents per $100 of assessed value. The advertised plan includes more than $66.2 million in bonds for Cool Creek Elementary and Westfield Middle School projects and anticipates about $83 million in state funding, roughly 38% of the budget.
Officials noted the district will submit average daily membership (ADM) using first-quarter attendance on Oct. 1, 2026, a key input for state per-student funding. Superintendent Dr. John Atha has said referendum revenue would be used for teacher raises and more full-time school resource officers. The budget returns to the board for a vote on Oct. 13, 2026; the referendum will appear on the November 2026 ballot.
