GFL Environmental reports that driver Shoun Cleveland, based in the company’s Tallassee, Alabama branch, received the National Waste & Recycling Association’s 2026 National Rising Star Award. Cleveland, who attended the June 10 awards gala in Washington, DC with his wife Amanda, has nine years of driving experience, covers 250–300 miles and services 90–130 dumpsters daily. GFL says Cleveland is noted for his commitment to safety, mentoring new drivers and strong work ethic.
GFL Environmental reports that Annette Johnson was honored by coworkers at the company’s Conway, South Carolina branch for reaching 30 years in the waste industry. The company says colleagues surprised her with a catered lunch, a plaque, gardening tools and a bottle of her favorite perfume, and that family and members of GFL’s regional leadership team attended. GFL notes Johnson began as a 60-day temporary assignment that became a full-time role and that she now serves as office administrator.
