Schweitzer Engineering to invest $25M in West Lafayette expansion, plans about 130 new jobs
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories said it will invest $25 million to expand its manufacturing and research hub adjacent to Purdue University in West Lafayette, boosting production capacity for electric power distribution controls by more than 35% and creating about 130 jobs; the company said the work will be finished by March.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, a maker of digital systems aimed at preventing power blackouts, announced a $25 million expansion of its West Lafayette manufacturing and research facility in the Purdue Discovery Park District at 1838 State Road 26. The project, the company said, will raise output capacity for controls used on electric distribution networks by over 35% and enable more on-site manufacturing.
The Pullman, Washington–based firm said the expansion will create about 130 jobs and consolidate additional production under one roof to improve efficiency and meet rising demand. Schweitzer noted the initiative is part of broader growth work that includes investments in Idaho, Indiana, North Carolina and Washington, and said the West Lafayette work is expected to be completed by March. The company also reported it currently has more than 800 open positions worldwide.
