Indy opens applications for free People’s Planning Academy — six-week urban planning course for residents
The city’s Department of Metropolitan Development is accepting applicants for the free People’s Planning Academy. Applications close at 5 p.m. Sept. 14; applicants will be notified by Sept. 21. Classes meet in person Thursdays, 6–7 p.m., Oct. 1–Nov. 5 at Frederick Douglass Park.
The Department of Metropolitan Development is running the People’s Planning Academy, a no-cost urban planning education program for Indianapolis residents. Applicants must be prepared to attend and take part in all six in-person sessions. The application window ends Sept. 14, with decisions sent by Sept. 21.
Sessions are scheduled weekly on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m., beginning Oct. 1 and concluding Nov. 5. Meetings will be held at Frederick Douglass Park, 1616 E. 25th St. The program description notes topics such as zoning and variance petitions.
