Nucor to invest $105M in Crawfordsville Towers & Structures expansion, up to 100 new jobs
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation announced on 2026-10-08 that Nucor will invest $105 million to expand its Towers & Structures operation in Crawfordsville, adding 125,000 square feet on about 180 acres and planning up to 100 new jobs by the end of 2029.

According to an Indiana Economic Development Corporation press release dated 2026-10-08, Nucor plans a $105 million expansion of its Towers & Structures facility in Crawfordsville. The project would add about 125,000 square feet on roughly a 180‑acre site; the existing operation began production in 2025 and employs 328 Hoosiers now.
The announcement says the expansion is intended to increase production of engineered utility structures that support electrification efforts including grid hardening, renewable energy projects and EV charging. IEDC said the work will use the same automation, straight-line production and hot-dip galvanizing operations as the original facility. Nucor and state officials expect a ground‑breaking in the first quarter of 2027, hiring to begin in mid‑2027 and up to 100 new jobs by the end of 2029; the press release also says new positions would pay nearly 150% of the Montgomery County average. Gov. Mike Braun called the expansion “a significant win for Indiana,” and Nucor CEO Leon Topalian said it will help meet strong demand from electric utility customers.
