IU East expands regional business survey to include Dearborn and Decatur counties, rebrands index

IU East’s Business and Economic Research Center announced it is widening its annual survey footprint to include Dearborn and Decatur counties. The survey, previously focused on a core set of east‑central counties, has been rebranded as the Eastern Indiana Corridor Business Survey and its benchmark retitled the IU East Eastern Indiana Corridor Business Confidence Index.

The expanded survey will gather confidential information from local business owners and managers on current operations, hiring plans, payroll changes, operating costs and planned capital spending, along with views on regional economic conditions and supply‑chain issues. Aggregated results are slated for release at the center’s Futurecast event and in the Richmond forecast article, with county‑level findings posted on the BERC website.
