Purdue launches Indianapolis degree programs in construction, hospitality and athletic training to target city workforce needs
Purdue began offering new undergraduate and graduate programs in Indianapolis this fall focused on construction management, hospitality and tourism, and athletic training, and will require AI-focused coursework for all undergraduates after Board approval in December 2025.
Purdue opened multiple new academic programs in Indianapolis at the start of the fall term, marking its third academic year in the city. The Polytechnic Institute’s construction management major is now available in Indianapolis under the Bowen School of Construction; the College of Health and Human Sciences added a hospitality and tourism management program; and the Master of Science in athletic training was expanded and is housed at Canal Square Apartments, a facility the university purchased last fall. The athletic training addition complements last year’s launch of an MS in sport management.
University leaders say the moves align programming with growing local labor markets and employer demand. Separately, Purdue will require all undergraduates to complete AI-focused coursework, a change the Board of Trustees approved in December 2025, positioning AI competency as part of every degree pathway in Indianapolis and beyond.
