TriCo Regional Sewer Utility’s board voted on Sept. 14, 2026, to impose a monthly $45 FOG fee that will go into effect Nov. 1, 2026. The fee applies only to commercial customers that have fats, oils and grease facilities—about 206 of the utility’s roughly 18,000 customers, according to pretreatment coordinator Shaun Odom.

TriCo said the fee is intended to cover increased costs it expects to incur as it pares down its own stricter FOG program following state legislation. House Enrolled Act 1348 requires certain commercial facilities to have grease control equipment and requires grease haulers to keep records, but, TriCo says, the law also removes some local enforcement powers such as mandatory cleanouts and fines for noncompliance.
