Zionsville vineyard sold; new owner proposes expanded winery, distillery and event center

Sheridan-based Ironsides Real Estate and John Hefton, who operates the Range of Zionsville and Circle City Trees, purchased the vineyard property at 2055 U.S. 421 and filed documents with the Town of Zionsville to rebrand the site as Honeysuckle. Hefton has asked the Zionsville Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance to permit a winery, a distillery and an event center there.
The owners outlined a three-phase buildout: Phase 1 would add about 1,000 square feet to an 1840-era barn for more seating plus a modest enlargement of a production space called the Barrel Barn; Phase 2 would add parking, a retention pond and a pavilion; Phase 3 would create an entrance off U.S. 421 and expand the Conservatory event building. The Hopwoods retired last year, and the board continued the application to Oct. 7 while officials review the site plan and traffic study.
