INDOT proposes $5M in Central Indiana projects, including $4.16M I‑69 fiber relocation
The Indiana Department of Transportation proposed about $5 million in Central Indiana projects through a STIP amendment, including roughly $4.16 million to move fiber along I‑69 (State Road 39 to I‑465) with construction proposed for fiscal year 2027. The Indianapolis MPO comment period was listed as ending Sept. 20, 2026.
INDOT’s proposed amendment to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program would add about $5 million in Central Indiana work. The largest line item is roughly $4.16 million to move fiber along Interstate 69 between State Road 39 and I‑465 (DES 2400752), funded with about $3.74 million in federal dollars and $416,058 in state funds, with construction proposed for fiscal year 2027.
The amendment also includes an approximately $810,000 project at U.S. 421 and Willow Road (DES 2600892) covering intersection improvements, with about $150,000 for preliminary engineering in fiscal year 2027 and roughly $660,000 for construction in fiscal year 2028. INDOT opened the amendment for public comment as part of the MPO process; the Indianapolis MPO portion of amendment A26‑MPO‑13 was listed as closing on Sept. 20, 2026. INDOT says projects must appear in the STIP to be eligible for federal funding.
