Fishers approval clears path for 124‑room Atwell Suites, advancing Saxony mixed‑use development

Fishers’ Planned Unit Development Committee unanimously approved architecture and site plans Sept. 2 for a four‑story Atwell Suites, an InterContinental Hotels Group brand, after developers resubmitted revised designs that had been paused for about two years. Senior Planner Christy Cashin told the committee the hotel is part of a larger mixed‑use proposal from petitioner Striving Legacy Fishers LLC. In response to staff feedback, the developer added two public‑art murals and lighting accents to enhance all sides of the prominent corner site.

The boutique project is planned to include 124 suite‑style rooms along with coworking and lounge areas, a small patio and limited food and beverage options. The proposal was placed on hold in August 2024 after committee members raised that the original design did not meet city architectural standards; developers said they were balancing those concerns with mandatory IHG branding. The parcel is already zoned for mixed‑use development.
