Indiana hospitals and providers renew collaboration at 10th Perinatal Substance Use Conference in Fishers

Indiana healthcare leaders from across the state took part in the 10th annual Perinatal Substance Use Conference on Sept. 3 at FORUM Events Center in Fishers. The event was organized by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) in partnership with the Indiana Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (IPQIC) and drew more than 140 healthcare professionals. IHA framed the conference as a decade-long effort to share ideas, build collaboration and advance strategies to improve outcomes for mothers and infants affected by substance use.

Opening remarks came from IHA President Scott B. Tittle and Emily Fitz, MD, chief medical officer of the Indiana Department of Health. Speakers covered the neuroscience of substance use, treatment approaches for pregnant and postpartum women, and included a firsthand account from a woman with lived experience.
