Fishers proposes $224M 2027 budget with raises, wastewater boost and 6.7‑cent property tax-rate increase

Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness introduced the draft 2027 municipal budget to the city council and public on 2026-09-21. The spending plan totals about $224 million — an increase of about $20 million from 2026 — and allocates roughly 55% of dollars to personnel costs. It includes 3% raises for all employees, an increase to the retirement plan match, higher longevity pay for first responders and a 6.7‑cent proposed rise in the city property tax rate.

The draft preserves funding for local nonprofits, neighborhood vibrancy grants, educator grants, landscaping, sidewalk remediation and roadwork, and continues work on the AgriPark West project slated to open in 2027. City officials said Public Works spending is rising about 21% mainly for wastewater treatment improvements. During a public hearing a resident urged more investment in biking, walking and transit. The budget returns to council for a second reading and final vote on 2026-10-12.
