Seymour proclaims Oct. 1-3, 2026 for 53rd Oktoberfest; local vendors earn contest awards
An opening ceremony in downtown Seymour launched the 53rd Seymour Oktoberfest, where Mayor Matt Nicholson proclaimed Oct. 1-3, 2026 as the festival dates and organizers announced awards for local food and craft vendors and winners of a children’s Prince and Princess contest.

The Oktoberfest opening ceremony was held Thursday afternoon in downtown Seymour and marked the start of the event’s 53rd year. Mayor Matt Nicholson proclaimed Oct. 1-3, 2026 as the official Seymour Oktoberfest days, and the Seymour High School Marching Owls performed at the ceremony.
Festival awards announced at the ceremony included window-decorating winners — Blessed Farms (first), Moxie Coffee (second) and By Design (third) — and vendor honors such as Bougie Bites (Best New Food Booth), Junkyard BBQ (Best Decorated Food Booth), Blissful Grace Boutique (Best New Craft Vendor) and Raising Arrows (Best Decorated Craft Booth). Beta Kappa Chapter 697 Epsilon Sigma Alpha named Elliot Wiese, 6, and Ahayla Dyer, 7, as its Prince and Princess winners; the chapter said funds raised last year supported local groups including Community Provisions, Anchor House, The Arc of Jackson County, Jackson County Special Olympics, CASA and the Trinity and Jamestown food pantries.
