York Automotive’s Plainfield dealership donates a percentage of each lease or vehicle purchase to a different local nonprofit each month through its Drive to Donate program, the company told the Towne Post Network in a Oct. 9, 2026 profile. The article named past beneficiaries including The Gathering Together, Strides to Success and Family Promise.

The profile also described broader community activity: the York family has built six dealerships and nine brands since 1987, the Plainfield location sells new Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram models plus used vehicles and operates a factory-trained service center, and the dealership participates in fundraisers, sponsorships, in-kind drives and local events. The Towne Post Network piece noted Kaye York joined the Plainfield location in 2020 and that the store distributes a monthly customer calendar prepared by a family member.

WHY IT MATTERS

Drive to Donate is a straightforward fundraising mechanism: by promising a fixed percentage of each lease or purchase to a designated charity, a car dealer turns routine sales into a steady revenue stream for local nonprofits. That structure can spread giving across many customers so that individual purchases—small or large—add up over time to meaningful support for a rotating set of community groups. According to the Oct. 9, 2026 Towne Post Network profile, York’s program names a different nonprofit each month, which concentrates support and gives smaller local organizations a predictable, time-limited boost.

The dealership’s other community activities—sponsoring concerts and school drives, filling showroom trucks with donated goods, and backing local galas and tournaments—complement the financial donations by providing in-kind support and visibility for causes. For customers, the program creates an opt-out-free way to support local charities tied directly to a purchase; for nonprofits, it is a fundraising channel that depends on the dealer’s sales volume and monthly selections.

Watch for the dealership’s monthly announcements (the Towne Post Network profile said the store distributes a monthly calendar to about 28,000 customers) to learn which nonprofit will receive funds in a given month or to coordinate local fundraising efforts with the Drive to Donate schedule.
