INDEX Corporation welcomed more than 180 Hamilton County high school students to its North American headquarters in Noblesville on Oct. 2, 2026, for MFG Day. Students moved through the facility in small groups, rotating through stations where INDEX team members explained how equipment operates and what it takes to build, program and service it (Current Publishing).

Stations included the INDEX MS40-6 CNC multispindle, the TRAUB TNL12 sliding headstock lathe, toolholder rebuilding, shipping and logistics, and 3D printing. A Fishers High School student interning at INDEX led the 3D printing station, and INDEX President and CEO Michael Huggett spoke about the company’s history and keeping manufacturing in America (Current Publishing). ReadTheReporter noted INDEX has hosted MFG Day events at Noblesville since 2019 and works with local schools on internships and robotics sponsorships.

WHY IT MATTERS

MFG Day is a nationwide initiative held on the first Friday of October to introduce students to careers in manufacturing (ReadTheReporter). For students, a factory visit like INDEX’s turns abstract ideas—‘what a CNC lathe does’ or ‘how a part gets shipped’—into concrete demonstrations where employees and interns show each step.

Seeing stations staffed by engineers, machine operators and an intern-led 3D printing demonstration helps students and school counselors identify possible career paths and the kinds of skills employers describe. INDEX told reporters it offers internships across technical and business roles and sponsors local robotics groups, which are common entry points into manufacturing careers (Current Publishing).

INDEX has staged MFG Day events at its Noblesville headquarters since 2019 (ReadTheReporter). If you’re tracking local school-industry partnerships, watch company and school communications for announcements about future MFG Day sessions or internship opportunities.
